We believe that appropriately guided play ensures that individual children will progress from their current state of knowledge and skills. We value the process of play rather than the end product. There is the opportunity for repetition to refine skills as well as scope for risk taking and the challenge of new activities. Staff guide and extend the children’s thinking, by encouraging them to consider alternatives and review their actions. Staff extend skills and development and respond sensitively to children’s needs and initiatives. We facilitate the development of play. We also plan for smaller group times where the children participate in language and literature, music, movement, science, numeracy, drama and environmental study groups.
