Drop Off & Sign In/Out Procedure

On arrival please inform a staff member of your child's arrival. Apart from security reasons, this provides an opportunity to tell staff if anything has happened in the child’s day that could impact on their kindergarten session.

Please ensure that your child starts their activity inside if there is not a staff member in the outdoor area. Sign your child in and out by initialing in the appropriate session and day, in the sign in/sign out book. If your child is to be collected earlier or by someone other than yourself, or extra information needs to be passed on, please write in the diary next to the sign in/out book. Go to top

Who will be collecting your child?

It is important that staff members know who will be collecting your child each day. If there is a break in routine please write details in the Diary next to the sign in/out book. eg: Tuesday – Jane Smith – Granny F to pick up.Go to top

Contacting the Kindergarten

Please leave telephone messages with whichever staff member answers the phone or on the answering machine. As you can imagine, it is not always possible to be able to come to the phone during the session time. go to top

Punctuality

Your punctuality is appreciated, modelling appropriate habits for your child and ensuring that minimal disruption is made to the daily program.

Please advise us if you may be late collecting your child so your child does not become distressed.

A late fee of $5.00 per 10 minutes is charged to repeated lateness.go to top

Independence

We encourage children to be independent in caring for their personal needs and belongings. For example, we expect them to carry their own bag, put shoes and hats in bags or in the basket next to the sandpit and determine when they need go to the toilet. go to top

Sun Protection - No Hat, No Play (Term 1 & 4) -

In Terms 1 and 4 all children are expected to wear a protective hat for outside play. This hat is to be a broad brimmed hat or a legionnaire style hat. Children play in sun-protected outdoor areas or inside if a hat is not provided during term 1 and 4. We encourage children to play in the shade, wear protective hats in the sun and wear adequate skin protecting clothing. Please help us to promote this by ensuring children wear protective clothing and headgear.

Food Policy

Children bring their own snack to eat at snack time. We provide a sit down area with food and wrapper/paper disposal bins. We provide filtered water at all times, or your child may prefer their own drink container (with water only please).

For snack-time we recommend that children bring fresh fruit or vegetables, dry biscuits or crackers and/or cheese. A simple rule is to try and provide foods that are not packaged. To encourage independence we suggest children select their own fruit and have it cut at home if required. Please ensure that your child can open and close their lunch and drink containers and unwrap wrapped items independently. Carrot needs to be grated. Chips, popcorn, lollies and chocolate are preferably left at home.

All NUTS/NUT PRODUCTS (peanut butter, all muesli bars etc.) are NOT ALLOWED.

Photographs

A commercial photographer will take photographs in Term 1 of each Kindergarten year. Parents are at no obligation to purchase the photographs.

At times during the preschool year, families may wish to take photographs of their children and their friends during their sessions. The staff also use photographs for displaying the children in their learning environment. If you have any concerns with this practice, please see staff to ensure that photographs will not be taken of your child at these times and that permission slips are completed on your enrolment forms.
